
A third generation San Francisco dentist, Dr Schmohl graduated from the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1970. He received a Master of Science in Orthodontics from Case Western Reserve in 1974 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists in 1987. He teaches at UCSF and is on the faculty of UOP dental school
Before opening this San Rafael practice in 1987, he had an outstanding and progressive orthodontic practice in downtown San Francisco. He is a pioneer in the development of invisible braces as well as incorporating the newest techniques to minimize removal of permanent teeth to create beautiful healthy smiles.
Also, he treats pro bono orthodontic cases selected by the Marin County Dental Care Foundation.
He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Marin County Dental Society. He actively pursues continuing education to stay abreast of the latest developments in orthodontics. He promotes improvements in orthodontics through research with his generous support of the American Association of Orthodontics Foundation for orthodontic research.
He and his wife, Janey, have four children and the whole family enjoys skiing, tennis and hiking.
